Features & Fun Friday #6 ~ Top 5 Scrumptious Strawberry Treats, Featured Blog: Tastes of Lizzy T, and Back to School

This was back-to-school week at our house, which means that it’s been a loooong one. But we finally made it to Friday…hallelujah! Looking forward to a low-key weekend celebrating a very special 6-year-old’s birthday.

Even though the season technically has one more month to go, it already feels like summer is winding down. But before I bust out recipes featuring cinnamon and apples and pumpkin (can’t wait!), I thought we could celebrate one last summer hurrah with these beautiful strawberry delights. Seriously…aren’t these photos gorgeous? And the recipes sound equally divine.

And if you’re in the mood for a salad featuring strawberries, might I suggest this Strawberry Spinach Salad with Feta Cheese, Toasted Pecans, & Bush Wine Vinaigrette (which happened to be my very first blog post back in June!)?

This week, I’m excited to introduce you to a mother/daughter duo who started a food blog as a school project and, in under six months, have turned it into a really impressive resource for delicious recipes. Tastes of Lizzy T features the family favorites and fun new recipes of Julie and Maddie, whose family has always dreamed of opening their own restaurant. A quick look around their site and you’ll want the first available table at any restaurant they may ever open! Tastes of Lizzy T features both savory and sweet recipes, but these ladies make no secret about their fondness for chocolate and peanut butter. Hmmm…I can totally relate! Let’s take a peek at some of their yummies…

So this week, the eldest child celebrated the beginning of a new school year…

…the baby celebrated 11 months (!!!)…

…and the middle child made sure that big brother’s S’mores-inspired birthday treats for school were up to par with repeated up-close-and-personal sniff tests.

SmellingTreats_700pxNever a dull moment around here!

On a separate note, I wanted to take a quick poll about the Features & Fun Fridays that I’ve been running for the past six weeks. Do y’all like them? Or would you just prefer to see one of my usual recipe/printable/craft/etc. posts on Fridays? My goal is to put out the content that my readers will enjoy and be able to use. So if you like closing out the week here with a top five round-up, a featured blog for you to go check out, and a few personal pics, please let me know in the comment section (or shoot me an e-mail: samantha {at} fivehearthome {dot} com). And likewise, if you’re a fan of my regular posts instead of these compilation-type posts, please let me know that as well!

I really appreciate your input. I want to put my efforts into posts that you want to read! Along those same lines, if you ever have ideas or requests for posts that you’d like to see, please pass that info along to me, too!

Thank you so much for all of your support over the past (going on) three months! This has been a fun ride so far, and I’m looking forward to growing and improving Five Heart Home into the future. 🙂

Have a great weekend, everyone!
