As you know, I typically do a Features & Fun Friday post on the last Friday of each month, and I apologize for skipping last month! I was at SNAP Conference that last week of April and, between preparing to leave, being away, and catching up once I got back, things were totally crazy. As a result, I never had a chance to put together my April Features & Fun Friday, and I never even posted a SNAP recap as I had originally intended! 🙁 So I’ll share a few Instagram pics here today, and hopefully that will somewhat make up for what I missed last month.

It wouldn’t be spring in Texas without a photo of the offspring in the bluebonnets! Little Missy wasn’t feeling particularly cooperative that day, but an Elmo video distracted her long enough to get a non-crying shot…and at least the iPhone case matched her dress.

I prepared for SNAP by ordering legit business cards. I feel so official now!

One of the best parts of attending a conference is meeting your blogging buddies in real life! I had so much fun getting to know quite a few of my favorite bloggers and hanging with my roomies, Liz and Kelly.

The classes at SNAP were very informative, but they were also pretty entertaining.

And in addition to soaking up all kinds of blog business information, tips, and tricks, there were also plenty of opportunities for networking and being social, like at the Stuck in the 80s Prom Party. If there is ever an excuse to wear a New Kids on the Block shirt, well…I’ve got the right stuff. Baby.

Of course, while I was across the country, wouldn’t you know that this guy would go and win the silver medal for first grade Creative Writing at the state level?! So proud, but so sad I missed it!

Back home again, I was so happy to kiss and hug all of my people. And it didn’t take long for this one to start rifling through my suitcase and stealing my conference swag.

In fact, it appears this little stinker is into everything these days. One afternoon while I was baking, her 4-year-old brother pulled a stool up to the counter to help. He and I stepped away for a moment, and quick as a flash, this young lady here climbed the stool to smell my (brand new) bottle of vanilla. Unfortunately, I hadn’t screwed the lid back on yet. But fortunately, she only tipped the giant bottle and didn’t knock the whole thing over! It was enough to douse her shirt and make her quite upset, but on the bright side, she smelled like a delicious vanilla cookie for the next couple of days!

And to wrap up the month, a little accolade from Cooking Light magazine. I was honored to have them feature one of my Instagram pics…so exciting!

IG_cookinglightWhew…well, I think that ought to catch you up for awhile! I say it every month, but I just love Instagram. If you do, too — and if you enjoy this type of behind-the-scenes sneak peeks — feel free to follow me on IG!

Have a wonderful weekend and be sure to keep your eyes peeled this Sunday for a very special, very BIG giveaway! Why? Because Five Heart Home is celebrating its FIRST BLOGIVERSARY! Can you believe it? June 1st marks a whole year of blog posts! Time flies when you’re having fun, right? 😉
